SOLUTIONS FOR
Education

Smart AV technology for classrooms, lecture theatres, and campus environments.

ProLab's education solutions are built around one principle: technology should enhance learning, not complicate it. We equip smart classrooms, lecture theatres, auditoriums, and campuses with intuitive AV systems that teachers and students can use from day one — without IT support for every session.

Our portfolio covers interactive flat-panel displays, high-brightness projectors, distributed audio systems, video production suites, and campus-wide AV networks. We also design purpose-built distance learning environments that bring high-quality, broadcast-standard production to hybrid and online education programmes.

From K-12 schools to universities and professional training facilities across the UAE, ProLab has the experience, product range, and in-house engineering expertise to deliver education technology that lasts and evolves with your institution.

FAQS

An interactive flat-panel display (IFPD) is a large touchscreen monitor - typically 65" to 98" - that combines a high-resolution display with multi-touch annotation software, a built-in computer or OPS slot, and wireless screen-sharing capability. In education, IFPDs replace traditional whiteboards and projectors: teachers can write, annotate, drag, zoom, and interact with content directly on screen, while students can share their own devices wirelessly. Leading brands include Samsung, LG, ViewSonic, Promethean, and SMART.

A standard lecture theatre AV specification includes a high-brightness projector (5,000-10,000 lumens depending on room size) or large LED display, a distributed speaker system for even audio coverage, a microphone system (lectern mic, lapel, and handheld wireless), a video switching and distribution system, a confidence monitor at the lectern, and a recording system capable of capturing presenter video, screen content, and audio simultaneously. Many modern lecture theatres also include a streaming encoder for hybrid and distance learning delivery.

A distance learning room is designed to broadcast teaching to remote students with near-broadcast quality. Key components include a PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) or fixed broadcast camera, a high-quality boundary or ceiling microphone array, a confidence monitor so the presenter can see remote participants, a video conferencing codec or PC running UC software, a streaming encoder for live or recorded delivery, and appropriate lighting to ensure the presenter is well-lit on camera. The room may also include a secondary camera or document camera for capturing close-up content.

Campus-wide AV distribution is typically achieved using AV-over-IP technology, where audio and video signals are encoded, transmitted across the institution's data network, and decoded at endpoint displays or speakers. This approach eliminates the need for dedicated AV cabling between buildings, allows any source to reach any display on the network, and enables centralised management of all connected devices. Dante is a widely used standard for networked audio distribution, while HDBaseT and various AV-over-IP protocols handle video. A centralised control system allows scheduling and monitoring of all rooms from a single interface.
