FAQS
A modern meeting room typically includes a large commercial display or interactive flat panel, an integrated camera system, a ceiling or tabletop microphone array, a room controller or touch panel, and a speakerphone or soundbar. These components connect to a unified communications platform - such as Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, or Cisco Webex - via a dedicated compute unit, enabling one-touch joining of video calls and wireless content sharing from any device.
A unified communications platform integrates voice, video, messaging, and collaboration tools into a single interface. AV hardware - cameras, microphones, displays, and room controllers - connects to platforms like Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, or Cisco Webex via certified room devices or compute units running the platform's native software. The result is a consistent, managed meeting experience where participants can join, share content, and collaborate from any certified room without manually configuring connections.
Corporate digital signage uses networked commercial displays connected to a content management system (CMS). The CMS allows administrators to schedule, update, and push content - such as meeting room availability, company announcements, wayfinding maps, and KPI dashboards - to individual screens or groups of screens across an office. Displays can run as standalone units or as part of a larger video wall, and content updates are made centrally without physically accessing each screen.
For a boardroom, the key factors are screen size relative to the room depth (a common rule is 1 inch of diagonal per foot of viewing distance), resolution (4K for close viewing), connectivity (HDMI, USB-C, wireless), and whether touch or interactive capability is needed. For open-plan digital signage, brightness is more critical - commercial displays offer 400-700 nits compared to 250 nits on consumer screens - along with duty cycle (commercial displays are rated for 16/7 or 24/7 operation) and portrait or landscape orientation options.
