Dataton serves Riyadh’s KFCC

January 17, 2025

Saudi Arabia:

In partnership with First Gulf Company (FGC), PRO LAB recently delivered an audiovisual solution for the prestigious King Fahad Cultural Center (KFCC) in Riyadh. The renovation took place across three theatres and other key areas, with the aim of modernising the centre while preserving its architectural integrity.

The primary objective for the project was to elevate the audience experience through the installation of new technology. The team faced challenges with integrating the new systems into KFCC’s existing infrastructure and therefore, went through meticulous planning to ensure all upgrades were completed without compromising the centres original design.

Dataton servers, including the Watchpax 62B and Watchout License, serve as the backbone of the foyer’s graphics system, powering LED videowalls, including an elevator LED videowall that spans two floors. The servers provide synchronised, high-resolution playback for dynamic visuals like promotional materials, event-specific graphics and immersive show-related content.

“The KFCC renovation was all about bringing cutting-edge technology to create a memorable visitor experience,” remarked Orlando Castro, chief technical officer, FGC. “Partnering with PRO LAB and integrating Dataton servers allowed us to deliver stunning visuals, especially with the standout elevator LED videowall in the foyer.”

It was imperative that the servers be compatible with other audiovisual components. The centrepiece of the foyer, the elevator videowall, required synchronisation and adequate graphics delivery. PRO LAB noted it chose the Dataton solution for its reliability and capability to manage the complex demands of the installation.

According to the Dubai-based distributor, the new systems received widespread acclaim during KFCC’s grand reopening, with visitors particularly impressed by the foyer centre piece which showcased custom graphics aligned with the featured show.

With phase two of the project already underway, the next steps of the project includes upgrades for two smaller theatres, exhibition spaces and administrative offices. This phase introduces additional technologies and concepts, including an LED screen integrated into a theatre stage and a planetarium within the exhibition area. Dataton servers or similar systems are expected to play a vital role in powering the graphical components of these installations.

“The KFCC renovation reflects our commitment to pushing the boundaries of audiovisual innovation,” commented Rami Haber, CEO, PRO LAB. “By blending cutting-edge technology with cultural heritage, we aim to create spaces that inspire and captivate audiences. It has been an honour to collaborate with First Gulf Company on this transformative project.”

Waqas Ilyas, Sales Director at PRO LAB, concluded: “Our focus was to deliver a seamless and immersive visual experience for KFCC visitors. Using Dataton servers and our integration expertise ensured that every detail of the AV setup exceeded expectations. This project highlights our dedication to excellence and innovation in every aspect of our work.”
